Andersen has a wide experience in advising companies with the set-up of their businesses in Cuba and the development of professional activities in this country. Our Cuban Desk is composed of partners and lawyers of various practice areas, who share knowledge and have more than 20 years of experience in Cuba. Our involvement started with our participation in one of the milestone transactions carried out on the island between 1999 and 2000, where Altadis bought 50% of Corporación Habanos.
Following the renewal of diplomatic relations between Cuba and the United States in December 2014 aimed at the normalization of relations between the two countries, Andersen has directed its efforts to consolidate its presence in the Island and has strengthened its expertise to attend all the needs of our clients. The firm aim to provide quality and broad-ranging legal advice to American, European and Cuban clients on Cuba-related matters.
The team has represented Spanish and international clients in Cuba for over 20 years in virtually all areas of commerce, including in the agriculture, automotive, renewable energy, telecommunications and tourism industries.
The Cuban Desk of Andersen combines experience within the Cuban market with vast knowledge of the legal system, economic and corporate framework and the political and institutional setting within Cuba. In this way, we not only advise, but also accompany our clients throughout all the phases of their operations and projects, from making the decision regarding the implementation, to establishing and developing, in order to guarantee an impeccable course with a successful outcome.
