Andersen has joined the Chair of Hydrogen Studies through a collaboration agreement that has just been signed. The law firm’s entry into the chair provides an extra boost to the university’s contribution to ensuring that the Spanish economy takes advantage of the opportunities offered by the use of hydrogen as an energy vector in a context of decarbonization.
“Andersen’s incorporation into the Chair of Hydrogen Studies will allow us to deepen our knowledge of the legal and regulatory aspects essential for developing the hydrogen sector and achieving a decarbonized energy system, including the transition process, as well as the planning and deployment of the associated energy infrastructures,” says Rafael Cossent, co-director of the Chair.
According to José Vicente Morote, Managing Partner of Andersen in Iberia, the firm will promote several activities within the chair, including “the supervision of doctoral theses that generate new knowledge about the hydrogen sector and the promotion of undergraduate or master’s degree final projects on topics related to the chair, which can be supervised by both university professors and Andersen professionals.” It will also promote the publication of scientific contributions in high-impact journals, as well as annual reports in the form of an observatory of indicators, with the aim of disseminating the chair’s knowledge to society.
“At Andersen, we have outstanding experience in legal advice in the field of energy and have been committed to the development of this gas from the outset, as we believe it is the energy of the future and is in line with our firm’s sustainability objectives.” Therefore, “this chair represents another step forward in our firm commitment to training and is also particularly innovative and pioneering, due to its positive contribution to the energy transition, as well as its high quality, both in terms of the program and the expertise of the professionals involved, who have extensive experience in this sector,” said José Vicente Morote, who explained that Carlos Mínguez, a partner in the Public and Regulatory Law area and an energy specialist, has been appointed as Andersen’s representative for the chair.
For his part, the Vice-Rector for Research and Faculty, Mariano Ventosa, spoke very positively about the agreement reached with Andersen, as it “will make it possible to identify and analyze the regulatory implications and possible barriers to the effective development of renewable hydrogen, and contribute to evaluating and generating proposals and possible technical alternatives for regulatory adaptation or modification, incentives, and other possible measures.”
With this addition, Andersen will join Acerinox, BBVA, Carburos Metálicos, Enagás, Fundación Cepsa, Management Solutions, Toyota, and Red Eléctrica in the chair.
