Rafael Ortiz is Of Counsel at Andersen in the Barcelona office.

He has more than 30 years of experience, during which time he has positioned as a benchmark in the field of labour and social security law. He specialises in workforce restructuring, collective bargaining and collective decentralisation processes.

Throughout his professional career, he has been partner in charge of the labour department at Garrigues for more than 20 years and, previously, director general of labour relations at the Generalitat de Catalunya. He has also worked at the State Labour and Social Security Inspection Agency, has been a lecturer in Labour Law at the University of Barcelona and the University of Navarra, founder and first president of the Labour Tribunal of Catalonia and vice-president of the Consell de Treball, Econòmic i Social de Catalunya (Labour, Economic and Social Council of Catalonia).

In the academic field, he is a lecturer in Labour Law at the University of Navarra and the Autonomous University of Barcelona.
