The Andersen Iberia Foundation has launched the first edition of the Andersen Scalae University Scholarship Program. With an annual award of 6,000 euros each, these scholarships enable young people between the ages of 17 and 24 from Spain and Portugal to gain admission to, remain in, and successfully complete official undergraduate degree programs. As José Vicente Morote, Managing Partner of Andersen Iberia and President of the Foundation, notes, “These scholarships reflect our commitment to equal opportunity, because we are convinced that a more just and competitive society is one capable of identifying, developing, and retaining talent wherever it may be found, while eliminating barriers that might limit its growth”.
The program will pay special attention to young people in situations of economic or social vulnerability, including students who are the first in their family to attend college, come from rural areas, have a disability, or have been under the care of public authorities. The financial award is intended to cover expenses not funded by the public system, such as housing, living expenses, transportation, academic materials, internet access, and psychological support. Additionally, the scholarship is renewable, subject to meeting academic requirements.
“Talent should not be limited by one’s background,” states Raúl Celda, the Foundation’s director, who explains that “we want to address the barriers that still prevent many young people from accessing college or completing their studies on an equal footing.” The Foundation’s manager also highlights the dual purpose of the scholarships: “It’s not just about providing financial aid; we also support each student so they can fully develop their academic and professional potential.” In this regard, Andersen professionals will serve as mentors to the recipients, supporting them in their academic and professional development.
