Javier de Artíñano is currently Of Counsel in the Madrid office and co-head of Andersen’s Tax practice.
Javier began his professional career in 1981 at Arthur Andersen, where, after two years in auditing, he joined the tax department and specialized in family businesses, consolidation of corporate groups and international taxation.
He is a member of the Instituto de Censores Jurados de Cuentas de España and the Registro Oficial de Auditores de Cuentas. In 1989 he joined Banco Inversión as a member of the Board of Directors, assuming responsibility for tax advice to clients, and for the design and organization of Mergers and Acquisitions. In the financial field, he has been a member of different CII management companies.
In 1991, he promoted the consulting firm S.C.D., a company dedicated to business consulting, where he was responsible for the legal and tax area until 1999. That same year, he joined DAYA Abogados, directing the tax practice. Throughout this period, he has combined his professional activity with membership of various boards of directors, either as a member or exclusively as secretary, including Grupo Rodilla, Bancoval, Montoro e Hijos, S.A., Equipamientos Urbanos de México, S.A.C.V., and Sonpetrol España, among others.
At Andersen, in addition to co-directing the tax department, he is actively involved in consolidated group operations and in the restructuring of family groups and venture capital funds (Portobello, Inversiones Ibersuizas, Espiga, among others).
