Employment lawyers are already preparing a "big wave of layoffs" in the autumn
| News | Employment Law and Social Security
Employment lawyers have returned from holidays and face a peak in workload in the face of the barrage of redundancies - individual and collective - planned by the companies they work with for the autumn months.
"The main concern now is when the quota exemption refund obligations applied in the covid era disappear in the event of collective redundancies, i.e. when the employment safeguard clause lapses. The question is recurrent, because companies need to make layoffs when they are completely sure that it no longer applies," points out Alfredo Aspra, partner and head of the Employment Practise at Andersen.
The expert has also detected movement from companies that are waiting for the application of Article 2 of Royal Decree Law 9/2020, which prevents objective dismissals on economic grounds, to lapse on 30th September, making him expect "a considerable wave of dismissals from October".
