New tariff for 2021 published by the UK. Drafts of the Free Trade Agreement with the EU

| Publications | Tax

In January 31, 2020, the United Kingdom ceased to be part of the European Union. Both reached an agreement for an initial transitional period that ends on December 31, 2020 with the aim of negotiating and reaching agreements in certain aspects such as for example, international trade.

As a result of the on-going negotiations, on May 19, 2020 the United Kingdom has published the new tariff applicable to the imports of goods as of 1st January 2021 originated in third countries without a Free Trade Agreement in place with the United Kingdom. You can have access to the document clicking here.

Likewise, the United Kingdom has also published the draft of the Free Trade Agreement it is currently negotiating with the EU as well as the drafts of other agreements to be reached in relation to the fishing, air transport or energy sectors, among other. If you wish you may visit the document here.

We remind you that if finally there is no agreement between the EU and the United Kingdom throughout the third quarter of 2020 and provided the United Kingdom keeps its word and decides not to request for an extension of the transitional period, said tariff will be applicable to all products imported in the United Kingdom originated in the EU.
