EQA certifies Mercavalència under the UNE 19601:2017 standard

Mercavalència has obtained the certificate in the UNE 19061:2017 Standard on Management Systems for Criminal Compliance, becoming the first company in the public sector in the Valencian Community to obtain this certification. Andersen has provided support in the implementation of the criminal compliance management system, giving technical support with the aim of achieving this certification, which few entities have achieved, and which recognises the company's commitment and effort to implement the highest standards through its good practices in compliance, corporate governance, social responsibility and business ethics.

It is a certification that endorses the correct implementation of best practices in management systems to prevent crime, reduce risk and promote an ethical business culture among the entire workforce and compliance with the law, improving the company's competitiveness.

For some years now, Mercavalència has been strengthening the company's culture of compliance based on values such as transparency, accountability and integrity. To this end, actions have been set in motion for the day and the dissemination of a new corporate culture of maximum compliance with regulations and zero tolerance of the commission of any illicit act. In this respect, internal regulations were drawn up and training was given to the entire staff on the code of ethics, prevention of criminal risks, the equality plan and corporate social responsibility. The process for obtaining this certificate began at the end of 2017 with the collaboration of Zertium and has been developed by the hand of Andersen who has given all its support to Mercavalència for the establishment of the management systems.

This model for detecting, preventing and minimising the risk of crime covers the whole company, including the governing bodies, promoting an ethical business culture. The certification comes after a rigorous audit process in which all areas of Mercavalència have participated with the maximum involvement of both the company's top management and the board of directors.

On 13 November 2020, the Board of the Court of Audit approved the Audit Report on the degree of implementation of models for the prevention of crime and unethical behaviour in state-owned companies, corresponding to 2018, in which the Court states the need for state-owned companies to periodically carry out external or internal audits, independent of the compliance body, related to the effective operation of crime prevention and ethics systems. This line of work is followed by Mercavalència, and this certification is evidence of this.
