Andersen advises Rolwind on the joint venture with Ørsted

| News | Corporate Law and M&A / Energy

The Danish company enters for the first time in Spain establishing a delegation based in Madrid with one of the main national players in the renewable energy sector (both wind and photovoltaic)

Andersen has advised Rolwind in the strategic alliance that represents for Ørsted, a Danish multinational electricity company, its entry into the photovoltaic market in Spain.

The aim of the joint ventures is to develop onshore wind and solar PV projects in Spain in order to participate in the next capacity auctions scheduled for the end of 2022, and to be able to start the construction of wind and solar PV farms throughout the country.

In Europe, Ørsted currently has onshore projects under development, construction and operation in both Ireland and the UK. The majority of Ørsted's onshore renewable portfolio is in the United States. The company aims to reach 17.5 GW of onshore capacity worldwide by 2030, for which it has decided to enter the Spanish market by choosing one of the best positioned players for future capacity tenders: through this alliance Rolwind and Ørsted join forces to face one of the main challenges that the sector will face in the short term.

Ignacio Blanco, director of the Energy area in the Madrid office of Andersen, has been responsible for advising on the transaction, together with the rest of the firm's team in the field.
